• Like Poll Everywhere, TuringPoint is a technology that enables students to answer the polls you project in real-time. The difference in this student response system is that the students answer the polls with clickers instead of their mobile devices. And, there is more functionality checking student progress. Using a student response system increases classroom feedback options, increases formative assessment strategies, and increases learner engagement.

• Turning Point clickers can be used in various ways. A few ideas for use include: Prepare your students for their board exams by providing them with questions formatted similar to those on the exams. You could do so by displaying three test questions to start or end each course.   Incorporate gamification techniques into the classroom by breaking the students up into groups. Create the same groups in TurningPoint and present the group that answers the most questions correctly with a prize.   Implement formative assessments into your lecture by pausing the lecture after each key point and asking students to answer TuringPoint questions directly related to what you just presented. Steps for Using Turning Point: Please watch this informative video or read the directions below. Click the image to watch the video.  Download the Turning Technologies software. Plug in USB (receiver).  Open TurningPoint Anywhere 2008 from your computer. A box pops up with four sections: Poll, Polling Assistant, Create and Manage, and Clicker channel. Record the channel number on a piece of paper. And, for purposes of this step-by-step guide, click the Poll section. Configure the channel that students will type into their clickers to engage with your questions : Click the down arrow in the TurningPoint Anywhere box and click tools, settings. Click response devices. If you like, reset the channel to a different number or use the one they show. It's the first response card channel). Click done. If you are starting a new session: Click the down arrow in the TurningPoint Anywhere 2008 and click reset session.  To create questions: Click the down arrow in the TurningPoint Anywhere 2008 and click question list, new question list. Type in your question and answers. Click the arrow next to the question to choose the correct answer. To add more questions, click add question at left side of page, choose the question type (mc/tf/essay...) Under presentation properties, you can add a time to each question and a correct answer indicator. Under question properties you can change the question value and number of responses.  When finished, press save and load questions. Now the questions are saved to your current session and to your desktop. To Create Participant List: Click the down arrow in the TurningPoint Anywhere 2008. Choose Participant, create lists.  Choose education template. Choose the fields you would like to add such as first name, last name... Click next If using groups, create your groups Title the list Press save. Now a box appears and you enter the students' information into each box along with his/her device id. The device id is the id number on the back of the clickers below the bardcode example: 07A6c7. If you provide each student with his/her device id on day one, then each time you use turning point, they should find that specific clicker so that his/her scores are associated with the correct clicker.  To start polling: With the  Turning Point Anywhere 2008 box open, choose to display the question you want to poll first.  Click the icon for questions (it looks like a monitor) and click the icon for graph (it looks like a graph). Click the play button. Now you are taking the live poll! To have students input their answers: Before clicking the play button, ask them to take out their clickers.  Click the Ch button (for channel) on their clicker; press the channel number; and press the Ch again. Now their clickers are connected to your channel. Now they can press the number that corresponds to the correct answer.  To save the results: Go back to the Turning Point Anywhere 2008 box. Click the down arrow Click tools, reports. Navigate through the available reports toolbar to look at the different report views. Choose a view and press save or print. To save the session for reuse: Click the down arrow in the  TurningPoint Anywhere 2008 box. Click session Save session. What's next? Now you can create a new assignment in the KPScholar gradebook and enter everyone's grade.
