This program is open to all trainees, including pre-masters, post-masters, interns, and postdoctoral levels, and is considered supplemental to the general training program.
The specialty aims to provide a space for learning about the clinical implications and necessary adaptations when delivering mental health services to patients from Latino backgrounds.
We offer one hour of didactic training and one hour of case consultation in Spanish each week. These meetings will start on October 17, 2024, from 9 AM to 11 AM.
here are two tiers in this program, based on language fluency and whether the trainee will be providing services in Spanish:
- Tier 1: Trainees must understand and speak Spanish. Those in this tier can attend didactics and case consultations in Spanish but are not required to provide services in Spanish or to have a Spanish-speaking supervisor.
- Tier 2: Trainees must speak and understand Spanish, pass the Bilingual Staff Assessment Test (QBS)*, have a Spanish-speaking supervisor, and attend both the didactics and case consultation meetings.
To submit any questions, please contact patrizia.meunier@kp.org.
*The cost of taking the QBS test will be covered by the Training Program*
